What Smells Better Than Home Cooking?
We all know the way to make a house smell like a home is to cook dinner, make fresh bread or bake a pie. But bringing the outdoors in can also work wonders. Our lilac bushes bloomed a little early this year due to the unusually warm winter. We almost ran out of vases and containers to put them all in and now our place both looks and smells amazing.

The bushes are normally in full bloom just in time for Mother's Day and Brian and I put together bouquets for his mother and mine. Oh, well. This year the moms will have to settle for tulips and chocolates.

  1. Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous! Coming home tonight to the smell of lilacs voided out my craptascular day. Plus when I walked into the yard about 20 butterflies flew out of the lilac bush. It was crazy, we've never had butterflies in like that.

  3. Absolutely gorgeous lilacs...you are so fortunate to have them grow in you own yard. I haven't even seen real lilacs in several years. We don't see them here, in S. Florida!

  4. I grew up with a lilac bush outside my window and it was always one of my mom's favorite smells! Whenever she would cut some and put them in the house she couldn't stop saying, "Smell these!!" to everyone lol.

  7. This reminds me of growing up! We would pick lilacs and have them all over our home. I think DC is too humid for big bushels of lilacs :(

  9. Oh I love lilacs. I am hoping ours bloom in the next day or so. I want to take some to the cemetery on Monday for my dad. We have a bush in our yard that's about 35 years old. So pretty.

  10. My all time fave-o-rite flower here. One of the things I want to plant here at our place is a few hundred Lilac bushes. I was thinking that maybe 72 or so of them would be sufficient. Maybe.
