The Cosmopolitan

The Cosmopolitan

Labor Day weekend marked the end of our summer festivities, our pup chasing balls on the grass, steaks on the grill and those lovely, refreshing frozen daiquiris. Oh, how we'll miss those daiquiris. Sadly, we put away the blender. But cooler weather, autumn jackets and the pumpkins appearing in the market put us in the mood for some more traditional cocktails.

Living in New York, though, we quickly grew tired of paying nearly as much for a pre-dinner cocktail as for an entree. Not to mention that most of what we've been served has been very light on the alcohol. So, we decided to look up the recipes to some popular cocktails, try them out and see if we want to make any changes. We've almost always found that tweaks are needed to suit our tastes and so, we've been conducting regular cocktail experiments.

It's been a tough job but we've endured in the name of scientific research and what follows are the recipes for our favorite cocktails, prepared in our favorite ways. We tend to like our drinks a bit on the sweeter side so keep that in mind if you're trying our versions. Cheers!

Per Serving:
2 oz. Vodka
1 oz. Cranberry juice
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
1/2 oz. Lime juice
1 Teaspoon simple syrup

Shake over ice and garnish with a wedge of lime and/or a maraschino cherry.

  1. Thought I was tired of hearing about cranberries until this post - it's what you do with them that counts! ( PS Fond of lime/ white rum daiquiris too and for the winter Brandy Alexanders )
